Cologne marathon among Sunday’s events
Attendance at Anuga on Sunday is expected to be slightly higher than on Saturday, as is usually the case. However, a major event will affect traffic across the city, including the fairgrounds: the Cologne Marathon.
A significant portion of the city will be closed to traffic, so Anuga organizers are advising visitors to reach the Koelnmesse venue by public transport.
“Road traffic may be significantly affected as a result. Motorists can expect significant delays and should switch to public transport, if possible, or allow plenty of time for their journey,” warned the Anuga organization.
“In addition to the general traffic restrictions, many roads along the marathon route will be completely closed. The closures will affect not only the Deutz area of the city, but also other central districts that the runners will pass through.
The Cologne Marathon has been held annually since 1997 in early October and includes both the classic 42 km marathon and the half marathon. It was only suspended during the pandemic.
